Obituary for Elizabeth J. Wendelken

Elizabeth J.  Wendelken
Elizabeth J. Wendelken (Betty), formerly of Nyack and New City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024.


Betty was born on September 21, 1937 to William and Mary McGillicuddy Hogan. She married her husband, William Wendelken on June 30, 1957 and spent her life raising her three daughters in Nyack. She was also the manager at Nyack and Spring Valley Credit Unions for many years. Betty was happiest when spending time with her family and particularly watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. She will be remembered as a wonderful woman, missed forever by her family.

Betty is survived by her three daughters; Laura Iwanow (Serge), Darlene Challacombe (Glen), Dawn Carey Vogel (Chris), eight grandchildren; Amy (Steve), Christine (Chris), Nicole (Adam), John (Taylor), Chelsea (Justin), Sara, Allysen (Ryan), and Isabelle, six great grandchildren; Brendan, Cassidy, Niko, Iyla, Rhett, and Parker, her sister, Denise Hogan, Sister-in-law, Patricia Hogan, and Sister-in law Evelyn and Richard Brega. She was predeceased by her husband William, sisters Maryanne and Kathleen, brother William, and Son-in-laws Matthew Carey and John Challacombe.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 11-1pm at Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
