Obituary for Roy A. Edmund

Roy A. Edmund
Roy A. Edmund, 88 born on July 9th 1935 in Red Bank, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Monday February 19th 2024. He was a Stage 4 cancer survivor who fought valiantly against both lung and colon cancer for 8 years. Through all the health hardships he faced these last few months he never lost his zest for good conversation and great food! He truly enjoyed living life to the fullest and had many stories left to tell.

Roy was a first generation American born into a hard working Swedish immigrant family. Shortly after birth his family moved to the Bronx where he went on to graduate from Dewitt Clinton High School. Roy was drafted to serve our nation as a Sergeant in the 1st Armored Division known as "Old Iorn Sides" and after his service went on to marry his High School sweetheart Marie (Dehner) who he raised 6 children with in Garnerville, NY. This coming May 9th would have been their 65th wedding anniversary.

Roy had a love and passion for American Football as well as giving back to the community which led to his roles as Head Coach, President and Commissioner of the Pop Warner Football Organization of Rockland County, NY that won many state championships under his direction and grew up to 2000 kids participating between the ages of 7-14.

Professionally Roy was known as the "Telephone Man" working 32 years for the NY telephone Company (AT&T) before starting his own business Edmund's Telephone Wiring. Although telephones were his job his true passion in life was his family. He thoroughly enjoyed getting to watch his 9 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and an unknown number of fur Grandchildren grow and live their lives across the country.

Roy was predeceased by his parents and sister June and her Husband Joe. He leaves behind his wife Marie Edmund and 6 Children- Diane Beltran (Felix Beltran), Carol Edmund, Karin Abrams, Christine Druss ( Mike Druss), Jeanie Johonson, and Roy F. Edmund.

The void left by the sudden loss of such a kind and personable man will be hard to close but we know he is in a better place and no longer sick and hurting. We will forever miss our loving Husband, Daddy and Pa. Love you.
