Gerald J. "Jerry"  Walters
Gerald J. Walters of Upper Nyack, NY, passed away on February 23, 2017, at the age of 93 at Nyack Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie, to whom he was married for 68 wonderful years; his daughter, Linda MacCartney and her husband, Harold, of Jupiter, FL and their daughter, Allison; his son, Gerald G. and his wife, Mimi, and their children, Lauren, Michelle (Bob) and David; and his son, Jeffrey and his wife, Rose, of Paramus, NJ and their sons, Brian and Kevin. Gerald is predeceased by his brothers, Jack, Donald and Kenneth, and grandson, Harold III.

Gerald was a 1941 graduate of Nyack High School. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific with the Command Air Support Control Unit from 1942 to 1945. During his service in the U.S. Navy he was awarded the American Campaign Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon with (1) silver star, the World War II Victory Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with (2) bronze stars. He was an employee of Orange and Rockland Utilities, Pearl River, NY, for 45 years and retired in 1989.

Locally, he was a member of the Mazeppa Fire Engine Co. No. 2 in Nyack, NY for 75 years. He was a parishioner of St. Ann's Church, a member of American Legion Post #310, and past president of the Nyack Field Club.

Gerald was an avid NY Jets and Yankees fan. He enjoyed playing tennis, paddle tennis, and bowling. He and Connie enjoyed poker nights with their friends, known as the Saturday Night Poker Club. He especially loved spending time at their Jersey Shore home with family and friends.

Gerald will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a loyal and devoted friend to all.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday at St. Ann's R.C. Church, Nyack, NY. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 South Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960. Mazeppa Engine Co. will hold a firematic service on Sunday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home followed by a service with American Legion Post #310.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mazeppa Fire Engine Co. No. 2, 68 Main Street, Nyack, NV 10960.
