Arthur J. Hollands of Spring Valley, NY died at home surrounded by his loving family on October 13, 2019. He had just celebrated his 91st birthday.

Arthur served as part of the signal corps branch of the Army during the Korean war. Like his father before him, Arthur was a lifelong Yankee fan and played baseball throughout his life. His army team, the 9468 Technical Service Unit at Fort Monmouth, NJ included famed Yankee pitcher Whitey Ford. Later, he played on the CYO and local teams and enjoyed every opportunity to have a baseball in hand. He was an avid skier and was a member of the Ramapo Ski Club. He enjoyed fishing and boating and was a longtime member of the Rockland Bergen Boat Club in Haverstraw.
In 1954 he married his neighbor and love of his life Margaret Figueroa. In 1957 they moved from Pearl River to Spring Valley, bought their dream home and raised a family. Arthur was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s RC church, attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and St. Anthony’s RC Church. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1946. He and Margie enjoyed dancing, participating in variety shows, working Bingo and being a part of the church community. Margie’s passing in 2009 left him with a sorrowful heart.
