Obituary for Dana Marie Fitzgerald

Dana Marie Fitzgerald
Dana Marie Fitzgerald passed from this world on October 13th, 2019; she was taken from us too young and too early but is now at peace and hopefully sharing a cup of tea with her mother Noreen
and her Grandmother Nora in a happier place and in the presence of God.
Dana was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on September 29th, 1960 to Noreen and Daniel Fitzgerald. The family moved to Upper Nyack in 1966 where Dana attended St. Ann's School and graduated from Nyack
High School in 1978. She attended and graduated from SUNY Oneonta and later went on to earn multiple masters degrees. Dana worked in the nuclear energy field with NYPA and Entergy for almost
twenty years after which she moved to Florida where she transitioned to working at the VA. She became a passionate advocate for wounded veterans. Dana retired from the VA in 2017.
Dana had many friends, most of whom were lifelong and they shared many happy times and memories regardless of how many miles may have separated them. Dana had many passion's, primary among
them was helping others. Whether it was donating blood, money or her time Dana felt strongly about helping others in need no matter the circumstances. One of Dana's other passions was animals,
particularly her dogs. She had several dogs throughout her life, many of which were rescue animals, they were like children to her and she was devoted to them to a fault. Dana loved to travel,
especially to Ireland which was the ancestral home, she made many trips there during her life and some of her fondest memories were ones she made being there with her Grandmother, Mother and
extended family.
Dana will be missed by many, particulaly her brothers, she was a bright light that is no longer with us but we wish her God's Speed, happiness and peace..she deserves it.
In addition to Upper Nyack Dana's residences included Spring Valley, Syracuse and ultimately Madiera Beach, Florida where she resided for the last thirteen years, she is survived by her
brothers John, Scott and Neil. In lieu of flowers donations to one of Dana's favorite charities, the ASPCA, would be greatly appreciated.
