Obituary for Gertrude Yondorf Gurevitch

Gertrude Yondorf Gurevitch
Gertrude Yondorf Gurevitch passed away peacefully on October 31, 2019 at age 88. Gertrude was born in Nuremberg, Germany where she lived until the age of 8. Then her parents put her, by herself, on the kindertransport to England to escape the Nazi regime. She miraculously met back up with her parents and older brother in England and immigrated to New York in 1940 where she grew up in Manhattan and became a US citizen. She married Alexander Gurevitch in 1952, went to CCNY, and became a dental hygienist putting her husband through law school. She eventually became the bookkeeper of their family Law and Accounting practice in Rockland County, NY where they lived. After Alex’s death in 1997, she moved from Nanuet, NY to Boynton Beach, Florida. There she proudly served on her communities’ “drive around security watch” during the winter while spending the summers at the 9600 building in Margate, NJ. In 2014 Gertrude remarkably survived an aortic dissection but decided to sell her residences and move closer to her family in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is survived by her daughter Michelle, son Glen, son-in-law James, daughter-in-law Liz, grandchildren Jason, Faren, Melissa and Dani, and great grandson Jackson. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alexander Gurevitch Scholarship Fund. Please mail all donation checks to: The Attorney-CPA Foundation, c/o Robert W. Scharar (FCA Corp), 791 Town & Country Blvd., Suite 250, Houston, TX 77024-3925. Note the Alexander Gurevitch Scholarship Fund.
