Ana  Mendez
Ana Mendez age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 8, 1928 in Manati, Puerto Rico into a big family (10 siblings). She moved to NYC after high school. She married and had two children, Edie and Larry Resto and was widowed at a young age. Her son Larry past seven years ago. She worked hard as a single mom. She held several jobs but mostly she enjoyed being a seamstress. Several years later, she met Francisco Mendez (aka Pipe). They married and had Wilfredo, Julia who is married to Mark Dari and Ann married to Steve Hearing. They moved to Nyack to raise their children. She enjoyed working, cooking, being a mom, playing the lotto, earning the title of “Family Domino Champ” and visiting casinos. Ana truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures – chatting with friends and family. In her later years, her biggest joy was being with her grandchildren, Raymond, Angelina, Vilycia, Samantha, Deacon, Ryann and Armando. She enjoyed traveling to see her siblings, nieces and nephews in Puerto Rico. Ana is survived by her husband, children, son-in-law’s, grandchildren, great grandchildren, five siblings, nieces, nephews. Family, friends and others whose lives have been touched are invited to the Wake on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Hannemann Funeral Home at 88 South Broadway, Nyack from 3 to 7 pm. The funeral mass will take place Monday, January 6, 2020 @ 11:15 at St. Ann’s Church, 16 Jefferson Street, Nyack followed by the burial at Frederick Loescher Veteran’s Memorial, 220 Brick Church Road Spring Valley.
