I have known Michael my entire life. Our mothers were sisters and we were born two months apart. There were seven cousins that gathered together for three months every summer at the Country House. We became brothers and sisters, not cousins. Our parents instilled in us a strong bond of family ties and Michael exemplified this bond. Everyone became part of his family and he was always there when called upon. Michael was full of life; had courage and strength of character and the capacity to enjoy whatever he did. He led life; he did not follow it. He was so happy when he met Doerte, the love of his life and that was a bond that would remain forever. I will treasure my memories with Michael and he will always have a special place in my heart. Today it is raining here in Texas and as told by my Grandmother “It is raining for the Angels are crying because Michael is gone.”
