Obituary for Catherine Marie Miklitsch

Catherine Marie  Miklitsch
Catherine Marie Miklitsch died at home from Alzheimer’s, on March 12, 2021, surrounded by her sisters and brothers. She had been under the care of devoted caregivers and Niagara Hospice. She was born on April 21, 1952, in Niagara Falls, New York. She was predeceased by her parents, Catherine Berry Miklitsch and Robert W. Miklitsch Sr., and her husband, Raymond T. O’Connell. She is survived by her son, Raymond M. O’Connell; sisters, Sister Teresa Miklitsch, OSF; Mary Fran Miklitsch (Donna Pavetti); and Rosemary Miklitsch Rapino (Jim); brothers, Robert and David; nieces Audrey Miklitsch and Cai Pavetti; and nephew, ZhenHua Pavetti. Cathy attended St. Peter’s RC School in Lewiston and Madonna High School in Niagara Falls. She earned her bachelor’s from Niagara University in Niagara Falls and her law degree from the Franklin Pierce Law Center in New Hampshire. After law school, she worked at the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, NY, and the Legal Aid Society of Rockland County, NY. Following that, she was a Hearing Examiner, then a Magistrate, in the State of New York Family Court, Rockland County. She received numerous awards for her leadership and contributions to the legal profession. She was a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Women’s Bar Association, as well as Past President of the Rockland County Bar Association and the Rockland County Women’s Bar Association. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
