Obituary for Clover M. Flowers

Obituary
Clover M. Flowers was born on May 31, 1948 and parted this life on March
22, 2022 at the age of 73.
Clover was born in Anchovy in the parish of St. James, Jamaica, West
Indies, the daughter of the late Charles & Ena Maud Harty, the first of seven children.
She received the Lord as her personal Savior at the age of 12, while attending Open
Bible Church, under the parsonage of Pastor Ignatius A. Brooks, and never waived in
her faith.
After finishing high school, in Jamaica, she attended commercial school, where she
studied stenography. She started her professional career at the Department of
Correctional Services in the Probation Office. At the age of 20 she married Mr. Joselyn
Flowers, December 26th, Boxing Day. The union produced four children, a daughter
and three sons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jocelyn Flowers, three years
prior.
In the late 70s, with the goal of realizing the American Dream for her family, she
migrated from Jamaica to New York state with her best friend, Winifred McDonald and
her daughter Jackie. She was a trailblazer. She followed in parallel steps of her
predecessors, the Windrush Generation, which were Caribbean natives that immigrated
to Britain between 1948-1973. Shortly after, the rest of the family permanently
immigrated to the US. Her greatest love were her children. She always made time for
them by supporting their various efforts, from academic activities to sporting events.
Clover was a member of St. John Deliverance Tabernacle, Inc. for over 35 years. She served on the
Nurses and Mother's Board under first, the late Apostle Elizabeth Alston,
then Pastor Emeritus Sarah Allen and her new Pastor, Elder Anthony Via. She was a
diligent and dedicated worker in the ministry.
Clover is survived by her four children; Yvette, Bruce, Robert, Dwayne and a special
daughter Jacqueline Watkins, as well as six grandchildren; Kaida (NJ), Gabrielle (NJ),
Jasmin (GA), Oliver (GA), Alex (VA) and Aurelie (VA). She will be deeply missed by
her six siblings: Barbara (Jamaica), Beulah (Jamaica), Horace (Jamaica), Owen (USA),
Rodney (USA) and Weda (Jamaica) and a host of other relatives.
