Louise attended to Liberty Elementary School where she met her future husband, Roderick E Bohr. The two went thru Nyack High together graduating, Class of ’37, Roddy playing football and diving, Louise being crowned “Snow Queen “at the Winter Carnival. Louise always referred to her time in High School as her most happy years, surrounded by lifelong friends who lives are entwined to this day. She survived two pandemics, and worked in a munitions plant during World War II. Roddy and Louise were married August 31, 1940, by Reverend Churchill at Grace Episcopal Church. The church was standing room only and had their wedding reception at the Rainbow Room in NYC, was the social event of the Nyack Season.
They lived in the NYC, Newport, RI, Bronx NY and settled in Massapequa, Long Island for the last 32 years prior to Roddy’s death in 1986. Returning to Nyack in 1992, she lived in Salisbury Point. Blessed by love again, she had many happy years with Warren James and then following Warren’s passing, she reconnected with High School friend, Joseph Renella.
Louise had a deep faith, loved to travel, Hawaii and Aruba being her favorite spots. She was always up for a party, or going out for dinner but mostly her joy came from being with her many friends and family. She touched many, many lives and was always an example of class and kindness. She will be missed by many, who are better for having known her.
