Obituary for Christopher J. Grennan

Christopher J. Grennan
Christopher James Grennan, a long time resident of Rockland County, NY, transitioned peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 26, 2022. Chris was born in Queens to parents James and Joan Grennan. He was one of seven children and grew up in Whitestone, Queens and Blauvelt, NY. He attended Albertus Magnus High School and graduated in 1970. Chris then attended Carroll College in Helena, Montana along with his sister Elizabeth and his brother Michael. Following college, Christopher met the love of his life, Lauren Hunt. They married in 1978 at St. Catherine’s in Blauvelt, NY. Chris and Lauren had two beautiful children: their first born, a son, Sean Christopher and a daughter, Molly Joan. Chris was a pillar in his community working with and mentoring local youths at St. Dominic’s in Blauvelt, NY. Chris enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams with his kids and brothers. He was a die-hard Mets, Jets, Knicks and Rangers fan. When not rooting for his favorite teams, Chris spent his time in the outdoors. He was an avid hiker and outdoorsman; he loved spending time in the Adirondacks at his family’s home on Lake George. Christopher and his wife Lauren loved to travel, visiting 13 national parks during their marriage. In 2014, he became a grandfather to his daughter’s son, Daniel Christopher. Being a “G-Pa” was one of the greatest joys of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lauren; his son, Sean; his daughter, Molly; and grandson, Danny. He is also survived by his brothers; James, Andrew, John and Neal; and sister Elizabeth and their families. He is joined by his deceased parents and brother Michael. Chris leaves behind a large community: his families, the Whites, and Hunts as well as lifelong connections fostered at both Ellis Imports and Verizon Wireless. Chris will be missed and his legacy of love, family and leadership will live on. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
