Obituary for Robert A. Banta

Robert A.  Banta
Robert A. Banta, a proud veteran of the US Navy and longtime resident of Washingtonville, NY died suddenly on Thursday January 5,2023 at Good Samaritan Hospital, he was 73. He was born on November 15,1949 in Nyack NY to Vera and Lester Banta. After graduating high school at Nanuet High School Class of 1968, he enlisted in the Navy from 1969 to 1972. After returning home, he became a carpenter at Lederle Labs & Wyeth Co. in Pearl River for over 35 years.
Robert is predeceased by his wife Denise A. Banta, mother and Father; Lester and Vera Banta, brother Lester Jr Banta, Mother and father in law Paul and Agnes Matrafailo and nephew Lester Ralph Banta III.
He is survived by his loving children Robert ‘Bobby’ Banta Jr. and Keri Banta. He is survived by his brother Roger Banta, sister in law, Diane Banta of Nanuet and Tina Banta of Cape Cod. He is Also survived by his beloved sister And brother in laws Diane Hicks, Karen Matrafailo, Paul, Jr. Matrafailo (Barbara) and Robert Matrafailo . He will also be lovingly remembered by his Nieces and Nephews; Heather, Roger Jr, Jenna( Christopher) William, Maria, Paul III, Teresa.
Bob's battle with several medical issues over the years complicated and unexpectedly shortened his life. Bob will be known for his humor, love for his country and most of all, love for dogs. He gave us so many happy memories and will always be thought of as the days go on. His was a life well spent and he will be missed and loved forever by all who knew him.
Visiting will take place on Monday 1/16/23 from 4 to 7 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A military cemetery service will be held on Tuesday 1/17/23 at 10:30am at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill, NY.
