Obituary for Lynn Harold "Hal" Parker

Lynn Harold "Hal" Parker
Lynn Harold Parker, known by his Rockland County community as Hal Parker, passed away peacefully, in Nyack, on January 7, 2023.

Hal Parker, born in Maine on July 19, 1948, came to Nyack in 1966 to attend Nyack College. While at school, he became an apprentice, framing art, part-time, to pay his college bills. He loved the work; his talent was obvious, and he knew he had found his life’s calling.

In 1972, Hal opened his own business, the Burd House. Over the years, he moved to several Nyack sites and called his business, Burd House Frame Shop and Gallery. In 2009, Hal opened The Corner Frame Shop, which he loved the most. Of his five shops, it was his favorite location.

Hal has framed tens of thousands of works in his frame shops for satisfied customers for over 50 years. He touched so many in Nyack and far beyond with his own art form, the perfect frame.

Hal was generous, personable, a friend to many and a support to the entire artist community of Rockland. For several years he produced the annual Art Exhibit and Sale to Benefit Rockland County Pride and was a contributor and founding member of the Phyllis B. Frank Pride Center of Rockland. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his sister, Mary Fogg of Westbrook Maine, nieces, nephews, chosen family, Phyllis B. Frank, Paul J Wnorowski, Debra Karten, Carol Laborde and many dear friends.

All are welcome to stop by to honor, celebrate and remember the life of our friend, Hal Parker.
