Olga R. Alphonse
Our beloved and beautiful, Olga Rose Alphonse passed away peacefully on May 2 2023, in her home of 20 years in Raleigh, North Carolina to be with the Lord. She was ho in Marchand Dessalines, Haiti to parents, Venus Romuis and Charles Philistin Jean-Phillipe, on May 2s, 1942.

Her early education took place partially in De Chapelle and Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where she obtained the skill sets and degree of becoming an educator and where she taught children for several years. In 1970, she migrated to the United States from Haiti to Brooklyn, New York. After a short time, she moved to Nyack. New York where she was reacquainted with Jacques Alphonse, whom she met in their beloved country of Haiti in 1967. They later married in 1971and had two children, Dominique and Rudy Alphonse. After the birth of her children, she developed a lucrative career at Letchworth Village in Rockland County, NY where she worked for 30 years.

She was a Godly woman who was a devoted Catholic and lived a Christian life until her last breath. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved unconditionally, reared them fearlessly, and who meant the world to her. She had a different definition for extended family that went way beyond the traditional meaning. She had two biological children, but she helped raise a village of children who are now successful adults along the way. She did not have much but did a lot with the riches of her heart. Her beautiful personality, generous spirit, and her charming humor was felt by the many lives that she touched When it comes to food, we all know that cooking was her gift. She found it impossible to cook for just one or two, because she prepared meals for many that encompassed so much love. Her food did not only feed the body and spirit, but it also fed your soul.

Olga was also very known for her unsolicited act of kindness in the form of charity. As an advocate for education. she would send children from her old neighborhood in Haiti to school fully paid to enrich their futures. She was adamant and believed in the old proverb "If you give one a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach one to fish, you feed them for a lifetime."
