Obituary for Margaret "Pegi" Minford MacCartney

Margaret "Pegi" Minford MacCartney
After only a few short weeks, On Monday, August 28th, 2023, Margaret “Pegi” Minford MacCartney peacefully joined her husband Barry among the angels at the age of 73 years old.
Margaret was born in Nyack, New York on September 30th 1949, an only child to father Henry Minford and mother Elizabeth Toto Minford. After graduating from Nyack High School in 1967 she attended nursing school, earning her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
After 2 years as a practicing LPN, she decided that this was not her calling and spent most of her years working for the New York Department of Motor Vehicles and moving up the management career ladder. In her later working years, she dedicated her time as Village Clerk for the Village of Grandview prior to her retirement.
Pegi loved the outdoors and spent much of her time feeding the wildlife at Widewater (the MacCartney family homestead) or on the beach with her feet in the sand. In 2016, she and Barry retired to Lighthouse Point, Florida where she spent much of her time by the pool and making jewelry.
Margaret is survived by her stepdaughter, Catherine MacCartney and her 3 grandchildren, Elle, Brody and Natalie of Valley Cottage, New York along with many of her parent’s nieces and nephews. She will forever be remembered by her family and friends as a fun, free spirit who loved life and always had a smile on her face.
A combined private service for Pegi and Barry with immediate family will be held at a later time. In her memory, as in her husbands, the family requests donations to support the Wounded Warrior Project.
