Obituary for Angelo "Joe" Dellolio

Angelo "Joe" Dellolio
Angelo Joseph Dellolio, AKA (Joe, Joe Joe and Pops) peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on November 15, 2023 at the blessed age of 92.

Joe was born on August 4, 1931 to Leonard and Santoria Dellolio in Nyack, NY. He graduated from Nyack High School in 1949. Joe married his lovely wife, Grace, in 1951 at the very beginning of his service in the US Air Force where he was a radio mechanic. He received his honorable discharge in 1955 as First-Class Airman Sergeant and Flight Chief.

After his service for our country, Joe and Grace lived in Nyack, NY and then moved to Thiells, NY where they resided for over 50 years. They nicely transitioned to Senior Living first in NY and then in NC to be close to family and the warmer weather in Charlotte, NC.

Joe was employed by the Grand Union Company as Produce Manager for more than 30 years. He was known by many local resident shoppers for his genuine hospitality, humor and friendship. After his first retirement, he continued to work at Shaw Jobson’s Hardware Store in West Haverstraw, NY for nearly 10 more years greeting every customer with a warm smile and a helping hand.

Joe is survived by Grace, his loving wife of 71 years. She was the love of his life and was always by his side. He made sure of it :)They have touched the lives of their family and friends through the shining example of their marriage, which is a testament to the devotion and admiration which they possess for one another.

Joe was also survived by his son Jeffrey; son, Jay (wife - Michele); grandson, Steven (wife – Rebecca) granddaughter, Audrey and Brooke (to be born this December:); grandson, Eric (wife – Vanessa) granddaughter, Rosalie.

Joe was one of eleven siblings. He was predeceased by his brothers: Joseph (Nino), Frank (Sush), Vincent (Red), Johnny and Anthony (Jeff). Sisters: Mary, Jenny, Lucy, Josephine (Muggie). He is survived by his sister Loretta (Queenie) who with her faithful husband Jack, has lovingly visited Joe and Grace every week since being down in NC.

Joe’s goal was to paint a smile on everyone’s face with the paintbrush of simple humor, a play on words and many corny jokes:) After retirement, he entertained at local senior living communities, nursing homes and at Helen Hayes Hospital with his unique Frank Sinatra Karaoke entertainment. He changed the words to the song “My Way” to doing things “God’s Way” to give the honor and glory to God and to encourage others to do the same.

Joe (Dad, Joe Joe, Pops) has successfully filled the role of husband, parent, grandparent and great grandparent! His love, devotion, caring, sensitivity and responsiveness to his family, friends and all who knew him have become his hallmark and a tradition that is being passed down through generations.
