Condolence: I'm proud to have served on the Village Board with Al, who was extraordinarily fair and empathetic with those struggling to meet life's challenges. We are judged by how we we meet our deepest challenges and Al should be remembered by his exceptional strength and decency leading the Village through our recovery from the assaults on our police officers arising from the Brink's robbery.

Condolence: Al was a trustee whose opinions could be trusted. He was a man who was a gentleman. He was a Republican without hate or violence. He walked up to the house to introduce himself and his ideas, and ask for our vote. He was the epitome of the politician of the loyal opposition, not the enemy. He and all those who emulate him will be missed.

Condolence: I'm sorry to learn of the passing of Mayor Al Volk. It was my plearure to servce with him on Nyack Village Board and the Urban Renwal Agency. I was honored to seve serveral years as his deputy Mayor. Al was a dedicated public servent and showed his deep love for the Village of Nyack and the residents. He would spend hours researching an issue and always tried to make a decision benifiting the Nyacker's he served. Always a gentleman he guided me often on how to be a beteer Nyack servant. May he rest in Peace nowing he left his home town a much better place.
